Bernie Soeth
Resident, Eskaton Kennedy Manor (Willows)
Her residence is decorated with enough family history to be the envy of a professional genealogist. Bernie Soeth's handmade quilt of her family tree, with dozens of limbs, covers one wall. Across the room is a portrait of her as the 17-year-old queen of her hometown Portuguese community's Holy Ghost Celebration. The 92-year-old family matriarch is enjoying her third year at Eskaton Kennedy Manor in Willows. |

Virginia Winick
Resident, Eskaton Kennedy Manor (Willows)
Pretty much everybody in Willows knows Virginia Winik. She taught first grade for decades in the small Northern California town and still keeps in touch with many of her former students. With the pleasant disposition of the quintessential elementary school teacher, Winick smiles when asked about life at Eskaton Kennedy Manor, "I found it home right from the first day."

Shawki Ali
Resident, Eskaton Kennedy Manor (Willows)
It's not surprising that someone who grew up picking fruit and working on farms appreciates a good orange and is quick to share some of his bounty with guests. Shawki Ali is a grateful immigrant. He left his home and family in Pakistan at the age of 15 and spent more than 30 days aboard a ship, making his way to Brazil first and then on to the United States. The 67-year old is now settled in at Eskaton Kennedy Manor, where he has lived for nine years.

Sharon Shab
Resident, Eskaton Kennedy Manor (Willows)
Sharon Shab appreciates how well-maintained Eskaton Kennedy Manor is and also "loves the security" at the Willows community. She's somewhat of an authority on both -- with a career in property management and two sons in law enforcement. The gregarious Willows native remains very active in Kennedy's Resident Council and volunteers regularly with various fundraising activities, the food bank and in-home support services.

Liz Miller
Resident, Eskaton Kennedy Manor (Willows)
Liz Miller enjoys relaxing on her front porch with neighbor Bernie Soeth. "This place makes us smile," says Miller, who has lived at Kennedy for nearly 22 years. "I have no desire to go anyplace else." Between visits with her five children, 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, she finds time to take scenic drives, camp at the local lake and crochet.

Pat Walton
Resident, Eskaton Kennedy Manor (Willows)
Pat Walton is a resident techie at Eskaton Kennedy Manor in Willows. Though she has to compete for time on the computer with her often visiting grandkids, Walton manages to email regularly with other residents and keeps current on Facebook. Her next gadget should be a camera and Skype so she can share her smile that lights up the room.
