Since its opening in 2008, the Livable Design Demonstration Home has provided over 2500 tours, engaging local, national and international attention, including visitors from Asia, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. The demonstration home provided the opportunity for city planners, builders, developers, educators and consumers to learn how Livable Design concepts and other supportive features can be easily integrated into a home design to support generations over a lifetime. The Demo Home was the recipient of two national awards, including the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) 50+ Housing Award and the AARP/NAHB Livable Communities award.
