The independent nonprofit corporation, known as Eskaton, had its beginnings in the 1960s. The organization's name, Eskaton, was drawn from the Greek language and interpreted to mean the "beginning of a new age". The orange "o" in the Eskaton name represents the rising sun.
Eskaton's office is in the Sacramento suburb of Carmichael, and, from there, it serves seniors through more than 30 communities and programs in northern California. Additional settings are under construction or in the planning stages. Eskaton's services encompass multiple retirement living options, assisted living, rehabilitation and skilled care, home care services, adult day health care, community information and assistance and a telephone reassurance program. (Please see map of service locations.)
To engage community leaders and the public in issues about aging, retirement living and long-term care services, the Eskaton Board of Directors hosts a speaker series that brings noted professionals to the Sacramento area.
As a nonprofit company, Eskaton has a 15-member, community-based, board of directors all of whom volunteer their time to ensure that the company's current operation and future growth are built on a solid foundation of high service quality and sound fiscal management. |
