“CURRENT LEGAL ISSUES OF AGING”
October 16, 2007
10:00 – 11:30 a.m.
Sacramento State University – Alumni Center

Retirement planning, parent care and end-of-life decisions have taken on new significance as the population grows older. The uncertain future of Social Security and the perceived lack of financial planning on the part of many baby boomers have compounded that concern. We know that you, as community leaders, health care executives and business professionals, are interested in these issues and recognize that all of us have a stake in meeting the opportunities and challenges of our aging population.

Mark your calendar, and join us as we listen to three noted attorneys explore current legal issues of relevance to this growing segment of our society.

The Eskaton Board of Directors will be hosting this event free of charge on Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at the Sacramento State University Alumni Center from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. (see directions below). Complimentary parking passes will be provided by Eskaton.

The Speaker Panel

Mark Hyjek, an attorney who practices in estate planning, elder law, conservatorships, guardianships, probate and estate administration. Mr. Hyjek has been an active member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) since 1989.

Imagine the Future of Aging
Let the Wellness Revolution Begin!

Eric Dishman
General Manager and Global Director
of the Intel Corporation's Health Research
& Innovation Group

April 19, 2007

    Eric Dishman

In partnership with the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, Mr. Dishman founded and serves as the National Chair of the Center of Aging Services Technologies (CAST), a cross-industry working group that is driving technology research and development.

Eric Dishman, CAST Chairman (and Principal Research Scientist, Intel Corporation), suggested that to be successful in delivering excellent care and services to our older adult consumers of today and tomorrow, we need a "wellness revolution." That is, we need to apply American Innovation to wellness technologies that enable prevention, early detection, increased compliance and new modes of remote caregiving and family support. And that revolution must begin today!

Meeting the Need of the
Aging Population

Marilyn Moats Kennedy
Speaker, Author, Consultant
Care Strategies

May 25, 2006

In a highly informative and entertaining style, Ms. Kennedy profiled generational cohorts (i.e. Pre-boomers, Cuspers, Busters and Nesters) and the effect their differences in value, perceptions and attitudes have on the workplace. She highlighted the importance of adjusting workplace communities, management styles, schedules and cognition to these differences if an organization is to be successful in recruiting and retaining valued employees.
