"Woman down" was the call on that hot day in July. The fire department had received numerous calls during the heat wave, and , sadly, had found several older people who had lost their lives due to heat exhaustion.

One-hundred-year-old Mary S. did not become another sad statistic. Her Eskaton Telephone Reassurance home visitor had become alarmed when Mary didn't respond to her daily phone call and hurried to her house. She found Mary on the floor and called 911. Station Five responded. This volunteer's action saved Mary's life.
