Here’s How You Can Help
Bring some joy to an older adult this holiday season by participating in TLC’s annual Holiday Giving Tree. Many isolated seniors have outlived, or live at a distance from, their family and friends. A card and present from the TLC Holiday Giving Tree may be the only gift they receive. Over 830 individuals received gifts through this program in 2009. Individuals, families, church groups, businesses and clubs are welcome to volunteer.
Purchase a Gift for a Senior
Holiday trees, full of paper mittens, can be made available to your business, club or office.
Each mitten has the name and age of a participating senior along with this/her requested gift, including color, size, etc. You select your mitten(s), purchase and wrap the gift(s) and return the gift(s) at a designated time and place.
Deliver Gifts
Put on your festive attire and spread some cheer by delivering gifts to the TLC participants. Maps are provided, and routes are available throughout the greater Sacramento area. You will be gratified to see the looks of delight on the faces of the TLC participants. Many times your friendly face and word of encouragement will mean more than the gift itself.
In-office Help
If you can donate a few hours per week, and you like administrative tasks, you are welcome to work with the TLC staff in completing the numerous details necessary to coordinate the Giving Tree.
Many thanks to all who volunteered in 2009
