"Alone" is the one word that best described Manuel when he came to the Eskaton Telephone Reassurance program. Widowed and estranged from his family, he had recently been diagnosed with cancer and was facing the prospect of chemotherapy. Due to his needs, he was offered both daily phone calls and a senior companion, who provided transportation to his cancer treatments.

Manuel is now free and clear of cancer and continues to enjoy the companionship of the Eskaton Telephone Reassurance volunteers and staff. Instead of the loneliness he once experienced, he is now feeling connected and fully engaged in life.
