Q. Are pets welcome?
Absolutely! We look forward to welcoming your pet. You must continue the full management and care for your pet and ensure that it does not disturb your neighbors. A pet deposit will be required to cover the expenses associated with any unexpected pet "mishaps". Pets are limited to one small dog or two indoor cats per apartment.

Q. Are there designated parking spaces for residents?
Yes. On a first-come, first-served basis, each residence will have one designated carport. You can choose your carport from those available at the time of your move-in. Should there be a limited number of carports remaining, you may select one and place your name on the "move list" for a preferred location as they become available. At the time you no longer require a carport, it will be placed on the "move list". The carport will then be offered to the next resident who desires a preferred carport location.

Q. Where is the parking for apartment residents?
Adjacent to the Lodge, on the south, east and west sides.

Q. Is there extra parking for second vehicles?
Yes. There is an overflow parking lot available for second vehicles.

Q. What is the meal plan procedure for vacationing apartment residents?
It is best to coordinate any long absence with the business office. There can be a discounted charge for meals, depending on the length of absence.

Q. What are the provisions for guests of apartment residents?
We welcome all of your guests, and look forward to making their visits enjoyable. Although we do not have guest suites available, we are happy to provide your overnight guests with a list of area accommodations.

Q. Will guest meal charges apply, and is advance notice required?
Yes, there will be a guest meal charge. Notice is required as a courtesy to the kitchen staff for meal planning.

Q. Is there a limit to the number of guests I may invite?
No. However, if you have a large number in your party, please coordinate with the food service supervisor or receptionist to ensure an enjoyable meal. The Lodge offers a private dining room, available by reservation, which may accommodate your guests.

Q. How is mail delivered to apartment residents?
Mail is delivered to The Lodge by the U.S. Post Office and placed in your apartment mail slot located in the mail room on the main level.

Q. How is mail sent?
Daily postal services are provided from the mail room.

Q. What will my address be?
Your full address will be provided at the time you select your apartment. You can begin receiving mail immediately once you are established as a resident.

Q. What equipment is provided in the exercise room located in The Lodge?
Equipment selection is based on recommendations for older adults and includes cardiovascular, flexibility and strength-building equipment (treadmill, stair climber, stationary bicycles).

Q. What recreational opportunities are available?

Patio Home

Q. How do I find out if a house is for sale or rent?
Because the homes are privately-owned, we suggest you contact a local real estate agent to determine if any of the homes are for sale.

Q. What amenities do I have access to if I am a home owner or renter?
Residents who live in the patio homes have use of all the Village amenities to include the fitness center, pool, all common areas in the Lodge (e.g. library, computer room, TV theater, beauty salon), plus all of the activities at the Lodge. Patio home residents may also enjoy meals in the Lodge dining room for a small fee.

Q. What does the Homeowners Association Fee cover?
The fee covers exterior home maintenance, including roof, siding, gutters and landscaping, street and grounds maintenance, and all of the amenities listed above. We also provide 24-hour emergency response.

Q. What services do I get in my patio home?
We provide emergency response 24 hours a day. We will also deliver meals on a prearranged basis for a small fee plus the cost of food. All interior home maintenance is the responsibility of the homeowner.

Apartment

Q. What redecorating or changes can I make?

You may arrange to make physical changes to your apartment in accordance with your tastes and preferences, provided that you obtain the prior written approval of Eskaton. You will be responsible for the cost of materials and labor required to make such changes. You or your estate will also be responsible for restoring the original décor when your apartment is vacated unless Eskaton specifically grants you an exemption in writing from this requirement. All changes must be in compliance with applicable safety and governmental codes and regulations.

Q. Do the apartments have balconies?
A limited number of apartments have balconies. The balconies are approximately 13 to 15 feet wide and provide an area for comfortable seating while enjoying your view.

Assisted Living

Q. How many apartments do you have for assisted living?

We have 57 one-bedroom apartments that are licensed by the State of California for assisted living.

Q. What services do you provide in assisted living?
All of our assisted living residents are provided with three meals per day plus snacks, weekly housekeeping, weekly bed and bath linen service, 24-hour supervision and assistance as necessary as well as emergency response. Additional services are provided based on the resident's level of care and may include transportation, assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, etc.), and medication management.

Q. If I am living in a patio home or apartment for independent living, how do I transfer to assisted living when care is needed?
A current Eskaton Village Grass Valley resident has priority for any available assisted living apartment when the need arises. The Eskaton staff meets with the resident and family members to conduct an assessment when a move needs to occur.
